Strengthening Local Communities

The national report Strengthening Local Communities, Australian Neighbourhood Houses and Centres: Who we are & What we do was released in May 2011. The report presents results from the national survey of australian neighbourhood houses and centres undertaken in late 2010/early 2011.

This was the first national survey of its kind and quantifies the significant role neighbourhood houses and centres play in building community capacity and creating a socially inclusive society. As well as providing a picture of the sector through descriptive statistics, the report used case studies and personal stories to provide a qualitative, human dimension.
