HCA receives Australia Day Award

Hills Community Aid (HCA) was awarded “Community Group of the Year” by The Hills Shire Council at a recent Australia Day Awards ceremony held at the Pioneer Theatre in Castle Hill on Wednesday, 20 January 2021.

HCA has been on the frontline for more than 50 years, delivering beneficial services and support programs for the entire community, especially those who are vulnerable and experiencing disadvantage.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne, said the special occasion provided the opportunity to honour the commitment and achievements of outstanding individuals and community groups in The Hills.

“Our Australia Day Awards are about acknowledging our local residents who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and have made a positive contribution to the lives of others without asking for anything in return,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Their meaningful and generous work helps make our region even more vibrant, connected and inclusive."

“I congratulate and thank all our Australia Day Award winners and finalists for everything they do to make The Hills such a great place to live,” Mayor Byrne added.

Maria Kovacic (HCA President) and Mici Beer (Executive Officer & Program Director) were in attendance to receive the Award on the night, with Mici commenting that "I am thrilled for all of the staff and volunteers, that Hills Community Aid has been recognised for the work we do to support our community, especially after such a difficult year."
